Job summary

Spicer Group, Traverse City, MI, seeks a Project Manager for water resources and surface water projects. Lead proposals, design oversight, budgeting, scheduling, and client communications across small to mid-size projects. The role requires strong PM, leadership, and team coordination within our AEC lifecycle focus.

Responsibilities include report production, quality control, site visits, and guiding engineers and technicians while maintaining client relationships and ensuring project success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field with PM experience in AEC.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
  • Understanding of the AEC project life cycle.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling, budgeting, and documentation.
  • Excellent communication with internal teams and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare proposals and manage projects from start to finish.
  • Oversee budgeting, scheduling, resource management, and team coordination.
  • Design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects.
  • Develop and execute quality control plans per company standards.
  • Produce and supervise reports; coordinate with clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Attend project meetings, hearings, and client interviews.
  • Lead and develop engineers and technicians; supervise support staff.
  • Conduct site visits and assist in resolving design challenges.
  • Contribute to recruiting and hiring processes as needed.

PROJECT MANAGERWATER RESOURCES / SURFACE WATER SERVICE LINEPOSITION SUMMARYThe Project Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating surface water projects within our stormwater practice area from proposal development through design, delivery, and construction support. This role will manage small to medium-sized projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource coordination, quality control, client communication, report production, and oversight of project teams. The position requires the ability to prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates; evaluate and resolve design challenges; coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal team members; and provide technical guidance to engineers, technicians, and support staff. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management, organizational, communication, and leadership skills, along with a solid understanding of the AEC project life cycle and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, client-focused environment.THE COMPANYSpicer Group is a multi-disciplinary engineering, surveying, and planning company.
