Job summary

The City of Pierre seeks a passionate Project Manager to coordinate and oversee projects across city departments. You will lead special projects, negotiate, draft, and administer contracts, MOUs, easements, permits, and resolutions; and inspect projects through final payment and close out.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management or related field; public administration experience is desirable.

Job description

The City of Pierre seeks a passionate individual to join our team in making Pierre one of the best places to live, work, and visit. We are looking for a Project Manager who will be responsible for the coordination and management of projects across multiple city departments. The successful incumbent will lead and oversee special projects; negotiate, draft, and administer capital improvement special project contracts, memoranda of understanding, easements, permits, resolutions, and miscellaneous agreements; draft and defend contract dispute letters and identifies and prioritize critical infrastructure needs, including risk assessments for mitigation; analyze feasible solutions and makes recommendations to the City Commission; determine scope of work; prepare estimates, bid documents, plans, and specifications; and inspect projects through final payment and close out.

REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from college or university with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management or a related field or any equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience working in public administration is desirable.

SALARY: $73,542.47 minimum plus comprehensive benefit package including 100% employer paid employee health, dental and life insurance along with a 6% employer match to the South Dakota Retirement System and 12 paid holidays. Up to $2000 annual educational assistance available. Wage offer will be based upon actual education and experience.
