Job summary

designtank, an award-winning architecture and interior design studio, seeks a Project Manager (licensed or unlicensed) to lead luxury residential projects from schematic design through construction. You will collaborate with the principal architect and design team, manage budgets and schedules, and serve as the main liaison with clients, contractors, consultants, and municipalities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5 years of project management or architectural project delivery experience.
• Architectural licensure or on path to licensure.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects through phases from schematic design through construction administration on multiple projects; establish budgets, schedules and work plans.
• Direct and produce design development and construction document packages with accurate, coordinated drawings and details.
• Serve as primary client contact; lead project meetings and manage communication with contractors, consultants, and vendors.
• Conduct on-site observations, document progress, respond to RFIs, and oversee change management and quality assurance.
• Collaborate with architects and designers to ensure integration of all project elements; mentor junior staff.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of project workflows and studio culture.

designtank is an award winning architecture and interior design studio built on precision, vision, and expertise. We craft high-end custom residences that are bold, refined, and enduring for clients who expect more from their built environment.

We are seeking a Project Manager (licensed or unlicensed) to lead projects from schematic design through completed build. This role partners closely with the principal architect, design team, and interior designers, while also serving as the primary liaison with clients, contractors, consultants, and municipalities. The Project Manager balances design sensibility with technical expertise, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the uncompromising standards of craftsmanship and innovation that define our work.

Lead projects through phases from schematic design, to design development, construction documents, permitting and construction administration on multiple projects simultaneously. Establish and manage project budgets, schedules, and work plans.

Design & Technical Oversight

• Direct and produce design development, and construction document packages. Generate drawings, specifications, and construction details that are accurate, coordinated, and buildable. Review work for quality, consistency, and alignment with design intent.

Client, Contractor & Stakeholder Management

• Serve as primary client contact; lead project meetings; manage communication with contractors, consultants, and vendors. Provide guidance, resolve issues, and maintain alignment among all stakeholders.

Construction Administration

• Conduct on-site observations, document progress, and respond to RFIs. Oversee change management, quality assurance, and problem resolution to ensure seamless delivery.
• Collaborate with architects, designers, and interior designers to ensure integration of all project elements. Provide direction and mentorship to junior staff.

Process Improvement & Culture

• Contribute to continuous improvement of project workflows and help strengthen the culture of a dynamic, design-driven studio.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of design and construction processes for high-end residential projects.
• Demonstrated ability to produce and oversee construction documentation, details, and specifications.
• Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and visualization/graphic software (Lumion, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Advanced knowledge of building codes, permitting, life safety requirements, and construction administration practices.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills; able to balance multiple priorities.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to both lead and support project teams.

Job Specifications:

Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
• Master’s degree in Architecture preferred

Required Experience

• 5 years of project management or architectural project delivery experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects from design through construction administration.
• Experience in luxury custom residential projects or in a design-focused studio.

Required Certification

• Architectural Licensure or on path to licensure.
