Job summary

Barlovento-LLC in Florida seeks a Construction Project Manager with 10+ years of DoD construction experience to plan, direct, and coordinate projects. You will work on evaluating drawings, managing budgets and schedules, and coordinating with customers and subcontractors.

The role may be office-based or onsite as needed, with a focus on ensuring on-time completions within budget and collaborating with estimating, QC, and administrative teams.

Qualifications

  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent; extensive DoD/Federal construction experience required.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to learn Trade Software packages.
  • Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate drawings and specifications to determine requirements for project success.
  • Inspect work in progress for conformance to specifications and schedules.
  • Forecast deficiencies and identify solutions.
  • Create and maintain fluid, effective project schedules.
  • Communicate with management, customers and subcontractors.
  • Assist estimating, quality control and administrative teams.
  • Proactively handle project issues/risks.
  • Manage budgets, manpower, expenses and costs to complete.
  • Issue and negotiate RFIs and Change Orders with management assistance.

Job description

Construction Project Manager in Panama City, FL with at least 10 years of DOD Construction experience.

Primary Function

Plan, direct and coordinate projects to ensure on-time completions within budget. Position can be either within an office environment with other departments, or onsite as needed.

Typical Duties
  • Evaluate drawings and specifications to determine requirements necessary for project success.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure conformity to specifications and schedules.
  • Project positive attitude while establishing effective professional relationships.
  • Forecast deficiencies and unrealistic expectations while identifying solutions.
  • Create and maintain fluid and effective project schedules.
  • Communicate and work closely with company management, customers, and subcontractors.
  • Assist and work with estimating, quality control and administrative teams.
  • Proactively handle project issues and/or risks.
  • Manage budgets, manpower, expenses, and costs to complete.
  • Issue and negotiate RFI's and Change Orders with assistance from management.

Perform additional assignments as needed.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

Educational and experience requirements include:

  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent, plus extensive (ten or more years) experience/knowledge of DoD/Federal construction, design, finance, and management required.
  • Computer literate with skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to learn Trade Software packages.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Critical thinker and problem solver.
  • Team player with a focused attention to detail.
  • Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities vital; superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills essential.
  • Must be a business-oriented person.
