Electra USA, a leading electromechanical contractor in New York, seeks a Project Manager to oversee electrical division projects from planning through closeout. You will manage budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and client communications to ensure successful delivery.

The role requires strong organization, communication, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams across engineering, CAD, and field personnel. Travel to worksites may be required.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of construction project management in electrical contracting.
  • Must be well organized and a strong communicator.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong document control and scheduling software skills; MS Office.
  • Knowledge of Procore, Vista, Primavera P6, AutoCAD and Microstation preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to worksites as needed.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Manager is responsible for the total management of the projects assigned to him/her across the electrical division. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning, budgeting, scheduling, negotiating, customer interaction and internal reporting and coordination.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Developing project scopes and objectives.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation.
  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress.
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
  • Report and escalte to management as needed.
  • Manage the relationship with the client.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Manage project submittal, RFI, and change order process.
  • Negotiate change orders with the client.
  • Manage the flow of material to the jobsite, ensuring timely receipt for efficient project construction with minimal impact to project cashflow.
  • Manage vendors and sub contractors.
  • Provide concise project reporting and accountability.
  • Provide quarterly job projections utilizing cost analysis techniques.
  • Ensure timely monthly billing including negotiation of percentage complete utilizing progress measuring techniques.
  • Management and oversight of M/W/DBE requirements.
  • Assist in the creation of Job Hazard Analyses and other Safety documentation.
  • Development of shop drawings with the assistance of the Engineering/CAD team.
  • Discuss and work to resolve all daily issues with the Foreman as they arise, but also elevate such issues to the Project Supervisor and Superintendent as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional, cooperative relationships with subcontractors, vendors, manufacturers, engineers, architects and clients.
Qualifications:
  • BS in Engineering (Electrical) or an appropriate technical discipline or commensurate industry experience.
  • Experience working in public works contracts, for agencies such as: PA, MTA, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, DDC, DEP.
  • 5 years of construction project management experience in an electrical contracting environment.
  • Must be well organized, a good communicator and able to effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to multi task and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Document Control and Project Scheduling Software as well as strong experience in Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Procore, Vista, Primavera P6, AutoCad and Microstation a plus.
  • Honesty, integrity and a strong desire to succeed.
  • Ability to deal tactfully in human issues with colleagues.
  • Ability to create and maintain cooperative team building relationships.
  • Ability to identify strengths & developmental needs in others and shift responsibilities accordingly.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Must be able to travel to worksites, walk the sites to verify progress and conduct and/or participate in progress meetings as required.
