Senior Project Manager – Heavy Civil / Electrical Infrastructure

Location: New York City, NY

Compensation: $170,000 – $210,000 Base Salary + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits

Company Overview

A leading heavy civil contractor with in-house self-perform electrical capabilities is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex infrastructure projects across New York City. This organization delivers large-scale public works, transit, utility, and civil infrastructure projects with integrated electrical scopes, providing full-service execution from ground-up civil construction through power, lighting, and systems installation.

Position Summary

The Senior Project Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of major civil infrastructure projects that include substantial electrical components such as power distribution, duct banks, substations, lighting systems, signalization, and utility relocations. This role requires strong heavy civil experience combined with a solid understanding of electrical construction and systems integration.

You will be responsible for leading project teams, managing budgets and schedules, coordinating self-perform electrical crews, and serving as the primary point of contact for owners and agency stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple large-scale civil infrastructure projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Oversee civil scopes including excavation, concrete, foundations, structural elements, and utility work
  • Manage integrated electrical scopes including power distribution, conduit/duct banks, switchgear, lighting, and related systems
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget
  • Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Oversee change order preparation, negotiation, and claims management
  • Review and manage subcontractor contracts and self-perform cost controls
  • Maintain strong cost discipline across civil and electrical scopes

Team & Field Coordination

  • Direct Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and field staff
  • Coordinate self-perform electrical crews and ensure alignment with civil operations
  • Lead coordination meetings with subcontractors, design teams, and client representatives
  • Ensure QA/QC standards and safety compliance across all scopes

Client & Agency Relations

  • Serve as primary liaison with public agencies, utilities, and private clients
  • Maintain strong working relationships with inspectors, engineers, and stakeholders
  • Support reporting requirements and regulatory compliance documentation

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in heavy civil or infrastructure construction
  • Proven experience managing projects with significant electrical scopes
  • Strong understanding of power distribution, duct banks, substations, lighting, or transit-related electrical systems
  • Experience working with NYC agencies (MTA, NYCDOT, Con Edison, Port Authority, etc.) preferred
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office

Preferred:

  • Experience with self-perform electrical operations
  • Background in transit, utility, roadway, or public infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of NYC permitting and regulatory requirements
