Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and heavy civil site safety practices.

  • Direct, mentor, and hold accountable on-site superintendents, engineers, and project staff.
  • Oversee procurement, subcontractor performance, and materials/logistics planning.
  • Monitor project cost and productivity reporting, identifying and correcting variances early.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and quality control across all work fronts.
  • Represent the company in client meetings, progress reviews, and regulatory liaison.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary site teams

OSHA knowledge and heavy civil site safety practices

Job description

Foster Lawson is recruiting an experienced Project Manager on behalf of a well-established heavy civils contractor operating across Massachusetts. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role overseeing the delivery, financial performance, and client relationships on major heavy civil infrastructure projects — including bridge, rail, heavy highway, tunnel, marine, and large-scale sitework/excavation schemes.

You’ll take full ownership of assigned projects from mobilization through closeout, directing site leadership teams and acting as the primary point of contact for owners, engineers, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own overall project direction, budget, schedule, and financial outcome for assigned heavy civil projects
  • Manage owner and subcontractor relationships, including negotiations, change orders, and claims
  • Direct, mentor, and hold accountable on-site superintendents, engineers, and project staff
  • Oversee procurement, subcontractor performance, and materials/logistics planning
  • Monitor project cost and productivity reporting, identifying and correcting variances early

What You’ll Need
  • 7+ years' experience managing large-scale heavy civil infrastructure projects (bridge, rail, heavy highway, tunnel, marine, or similar) with a self-perform contractor
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary site teams and manage complex owner/subcontractor relationships
  • Strong command of project financials, scheduling, and risk/change management
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and heavy civil site safety practices
  • Willingness to be based on active project sites across Massachusetts
