Job summary

ALS is seeking a capable Sample Preparation Supervisor to manage the day-to-day operations of our minerals lab. You will lead the sample preparation team, ensure timely turnaround, and uphold strict SOPs and safety standards to deliver high-quality service to clients.

You will train staff, coordinate workloads, and maintain training records while collaborating with management to address quality issues and improve processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years work experience in a commercial minerals laboratory.
• Degree or diploma in mineral/geology/chemistry is an asset.
• Forklift license/certification is an asset.
• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment.
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and laboratory systems.

Responsibilities

• Manages sample preparation processes and maintains shift production.
• Ensures turnaround times are met and SOPs are followed.
• Coordinates and prioritizes daily workloads with the team.
• Ensures safety policies are followed in all tasks.
• Collaborates with management and lab staff to deliver quality service.
• Trains and develops Sample Preparation technicians.
• Maintains training records and controlled documents.
• Produces prep QC data charts and performs basic maintenance.
