The role of the Project Manager in the Major Projects & Engineering Services Department is to lead and guide the execution of all engineering, design, procurement, fabrication, field construction (if applicable), and scope changes from project award, to kick-off, through project execution, and to field commissioning of natural gas projects in the United States.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide overall leadership and governance for large, complex, and high-risk EPC (turnkey) projects, managing technical, commercial, contractual, and fabrication requirements from initiation through closeout in alignment with Enerflex processes and the Project Execution Plan. Ensure full integration of scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, procurement, and management. Establish project governance structures, decision authorities, and escalation protocols appropriate to major capital projects. Lead and optimize multi-disciplinary teams while managing multiple concurrent projects with significant execution and commercial risk. Demonstrate ethical leadership, sound judgment, and adherence to Enerflex core values. Advise executive management on project performance, risks, client relationships, and strategic impacts through formal reporting and governance forums.
  • Serve as the senior customer interface, owning executive-level stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle. Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive engagement, structured communication, and effective issue resolution. Translate customer requirements, changes, and commercial positions into clear internal direction aligned with the approved scope baseline. Lead high-impact internal and external meetings, negotiations, and executive reviews. Travel domestically and internationally as required to support customer engagement, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Lead or support the development of major EPC proposals, providing input on execution strategy, contracting approach, risk identification, scheduling, and cost structure. Ensure proposal assumptions are carried through post-award and early execution phases.
  • Establish, validate, and approve integrated project schedules and execution plans aligned with contractual milestones and business objectives. Oversee performance reporting, including schedule and cost variance, forecast-to-complete, and recovery planning. Proactively identify schedule risks and implement mitigation or acceleration strategies using advanced planning tools and critical path analysis.
  • Own overall project financial performance, including margin protection, cash flow, scope control, change management, and forecast accuracy. Oversee cost control activities and apply earned value management, cost forecasting, and commercial risk principles. Lead or support high-value change orders, variations, and claim negotiations.
  • Provide senior technical oversight across engineering disciplines to ensure compliance with contracts, codes, and project requirements. Guide P&ID reviews, HAZOPs, and major design reviews with a focus on risk mitigation and constructability. Resolve complex technical, commissioning, and warranty issues, ensuring alignment across engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction.
  • Direct all execution activities, including engineering, procurement, expediting, fabrication, logistics, delivery, and commissioning. Lead negotiations with major suppliers, subcontractors, and partners, and resolve high-impact execution or interface issues affecting cost, schedule, or quality.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) requirements. Promote a proactive safety and compliance culture and provide leadership in addressing serious quality or HSSE risks and incidents.
  • Own the project risk management plan, ensuring risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies are actively managed and clearly communicated. Enforce disciplined change management and capture lessons learned while mentoring and developing future project leaders.
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of Project Management Experience.
  • 15+ years of engineering, design, applications or sales, EPC (turnkey) and manufacturing shop floor experience.
  • Success for this role requires a working knowledge of the equipment and process for amine sweetening, glycol dehydration, hydrocarbon recovery, fractionation, and dew point control.
  • Strong self-starter skills and ability to perform successfully with limited supervision.
  • Versatile team building skills and ability to coordinate multifunctional teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of industry codes and safety legislation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work closely in a team environment with all internal / external stakeholders.
  • Fully comfortable in dealing with customers, vendors, manufacturing and management teams in the USA and international landscapes.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • EPC Project experience along with exposure to fabrication facilities is a must.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude, aptitude for innovation and long term career interests. BS Degree in Engineering is preferred and a Professional Engineering License is a plus.
