Job summary

NextPlay Jobs is seeking an experienced Utility Project Manager to lead power-delivery projects across transmission, distribution, and substation scopes. Responsibilities

• Manage utility construction projects through planning, execution, financial control, and closeout.

Utility Project Manager – Power Delivery

Overview

We are seeking experienced Project Managers to join a growing utility and power-delivery organization supporting major Transmission, Distribution, and Substation projects throughout the region.

These roles are ideal for hands‑on project professionals who understand utility construction and enjoy owning projects from planning and execution through financial closeout. The right candidate will work closely with customers, field operations, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Manage utility construction projects through planning, execution, financial control, and closeout.
• Support transmission, distribution, and/or substation projects depending on experience and business needs.
• Take ownership of project schedules, budgets, costs, forecasts, and overall financial performance.
• Coordinate closely with field operations to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and according to customer requirements.
• Work directly with customers to manage project requirements, expectations, communication, and deliverables.
• Monitor project schedules and manage execution against established milestones and deadlines.
• Coordinate procurement, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project resources.
• Track project costs, forecasts, change orders, and financial performance.
• Support contract administration, change management, risk management, and project documentation.

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years of relevant experience within the utility, power-delivery, electrical construction, or related infrastructure industry.
• Experience managing projects involving budgets, schedules, costs, customers, and field execution.
• Strong understanding of construction project execution and project financial management.
• Ability to read, understand, and manage against project schedules.
• Strong Excel and project reporting skills.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively with both executive‑level customers and field personnel.
• Willingness to travel as required by project and customer needs.

Preferred

• Experience with transmission, distribution, or substation construction.
• Utility contractor or EPC experience.
• Experience with overhead transmission, high‑voltage electrical systems, distribution infrastructure, or substation projects.
• Experience with project procurement and subcontractor management.
• Experience with contract administration and change orders.
• Experience with Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar scheduling platforms.
• Experience with Power BI or other project reporting tools.
• Experience managing multiple projects or project teams simultaneously.
• Experience working directly with utility customers.
• Experience with power-delivery construction, T&D infrastructure, or electrical utility projects.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on, hungry, and self‑starting project manager who wants to own projects and take on increasing responsibility.

You should be comfortable sitting in a customer meeting discussing budgets and schedules, then spending time in the field working directly with project and construction teams. Strong candidates will bring a combination of commercial awareness, field execution experience, customer relationship skills, and technical understanding of utility construction.

• Base salary generally ranges from $125,000-$175,000, depending on experience and project scope.
