Actalent is seeking a Project Manager for Dundas, MN, to oversee industrial construction and mechanical projects from estimation to completion. You will balance technical piping and millwright knowledge with strong leadership and client-facing responsibilities to drive project success and customer satisfaction.

Based in an onsite, contract-to-hire role, you will manage budgets, schedules, and resources, while collaborating with field teams and engineering coordinators to meet quality standards

  • Experience leading projects with piping, millwright, or mechanical scopes.
  • Proven ability to estimate scope, labor, and materials for proposals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead projects from both a technical and managerial perspective, providing clear direction and oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Estimate projects accurately, including scope, labor, materials, and timelines, to support competitive and realistic proposals.
  • Create and manage change orders, ensuring all scope changes are documented, approved, and incorporated into project plans and budgets.
  • Manage client relationships by communicating regularly, addressing concerns promptly, and actively enhancing overall customer satisfaction.
  • Generate detailed project schedules that outline key milestones, resource allocation, and critical path activities.
  • Work closely with field supervision to manage day-to-day project activities and ensure work remains on track from start to finish.
  • Monitor project progress against schedule and budget, identifying issues early and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with project engineering and coordination teams to align technical requirements with field execution.
  • Apply construction and mechanical engineering principles to support decision-making and resolve project challenges.
  • Devise new approaches to solving project-related problems, using creativity and sound judgment to improve outcomes.
  • Lead project teams with strong, hands‑on leadership, promoting effective communication and accountability.
  • Ensure work is performed in a time- and cost-effective manner while maintaining quality workmanship to meet project specifications.
  • Utilize basic Microsoft Office tools and scheduling software such as Primavera or Microsoft Project to plan, track, and report on project status.
  • Support estimation and mechanical aspects of projects, including construction planning and industrial or manufacturing processes.
  • Align project execution with the organizations mission to deliver quality workmanship that meets client specifications.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in industrial managerial roles with strong communication skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities and excellent project management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Ability to devise new approaches to solving complex project and technical problems.
  • Demonstrated capability to work in a time- and cost-effective manner while maintaining quality standards.
  • General knowledge of industrial piping and millwright projects.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic knowledge of project scheduling tools such as Primavera or Microsoft Project.
  • Construction, industrial, or manufacturing industry experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a project management role.
  • Background in project management, project engineering, or project coordination within mechanical or construction environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in the oil, gas, and energy industry is a plus.
  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) is beneficial.
  • Two-year associate degree is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with estimation in construction or mechanical projects.
  • Exposure to mechanical engineering and construction practices in industrial or manufacturing settings.
  • Ability to support and promote a mission focused on providing quality workmanship to client specifications.
Work Environment

The role is based in an industrial and construction-focused environment, working closely with field supervision and project teams involved in piping, millwright, and mechanical projects. You will use standard office technologies, including Microsoft Office, along with scheduling software such as Primavera or Microsoft Project to plan and track work. The position involves regular collaboration with field personnel and stakeholders to keep projects on schedule and within budget. Work hours typically follow standard business schedules, with flexibility as needed to meet project deadlines and support field activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dundas, MN.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
