Job summary

Stryker Corporation seeks a Project Manager to oversee construction management for Auraria Campus and partner institutions in Denver. The role covers planning through closeout of small- to medium-sized projects ($5M–$10M+), including renovations and new construction.

You will manage budgets, schedules, procurement, and on-site inspections while mentoring junior planners. You will collaborate with campus stakeholders to ensure scope, quality, and timing meet operational needs, and participate in

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field from an accredited university.
  • Substitution: a combination of work experience in the occupational field may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a related field including engineering, architecture or project management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and management of project budgets consistent with timeline requirements for small to medium new development or renovation projects.
  • Manage planning, design and construction phases.
  • Maintain established schedules to allow campus to utilize space within desired timeframes.
  • Monitor and manage contractors and vendors to ensure they are meeting agreed upon scope, schedule and budget.
  • Work closely with campus constituents to develop and execute scope of work within required budget, schedule and quality standards and to support the ongoing operation and activities of the campus.
  • Oversee and manage procurement, contracts, change order documents, negotiations and consultant relationships.
  • Conduct on-site inspections of construction progress, making technical decision to assure conformance with specifications.
  • Monitor and adjust project schedules to ensure projects are completed within the time and budget allocations for the projects.
  • Provide bi-weekly updates on project status.
  • Department Administration and Support: Complete administrative paperwork associated with projects including all state required forms and approve payments for contractors.
  • Participate in project management department meetings.
  • Mentor project planners on the team by having them shadow on larger projects.
  • Assist PM team with establishing campus standards for construction related items.
  • Assist annually with choosing architect/engineering firms and contractors for the on-call, as needed list.
  • Project Scope Development: Develop and establish scopes of work consistent with operational needs, program plans, and within budget allowances.
  • Work with customers, trades experts, and procurement to explore feasibility, secure cost estimates, and prepare for bidding.
  • Determine scope details to be included in a project to reach desired end result.
  • Other duties as assigned/requested: Assist with other Facilities-wide tasks.

Job description

The Project Manager will provide construction management services for Auraria Campus and the three partner institutions. This position is responsible for management of all phases (planning, design and construction) of Small to medium sized projects ranging in value from $5,000 - $10,000,000 including renovation, additions, new construction, deferred maintenance projects, campus damage projects, cash projects, and repairs to damaged campus infrastructure.

Project Management of cash funded, general fund, controlled maintenance, deferred maintenance and capital projects: Responsible for planning and scheduling assigned construction projects including all tasks involved in the project from pre-construction through final closeout.

  • Lead the development and management of project budgets consistent with timeline requirements for small to medium new development or renovation projects.

Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field from an accredited university.
Substitution: A combination of work experience in the occupational field or subject area of the position work assignment, which provided the same kind, amount and level of knowledge acquired in the required education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the bachelor's degree.
Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a related field including engineering, architecture or project management.
Must possess a valid unencumbered Colorado driver's license at the time of application.
