Job summary

Hillmann Consulting, LLC is seeking a Project Manager to join our Construction Risk Management group in Syracuse, NY on a hybrid schedule. You will lead due diligence reviews, evaluate contracts and drawings, and conduct site visits to assess construction-related risks for clients.

The role emphasizes strong communication, client management, and the ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail. A relevant degree and 2–5 years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of construction/design-related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture (or equivalent).
  • RA or PE preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Complete detailed reviews of pre-construction due diligence documentation and prepare comprehensive reports that identify and assess construction risks.
  • Review and evaluate construction contracts, plans, specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Conduct periodic site visits and provide professional risk assessments and updates.

Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Construction Management / Architecture; or equivalent degree.
Experience:
  • 2 – 5 years of construction / design related experience.
  • Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) – preferred
Skills:
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills, with the ability to manage expectations effectively and professionally.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and/or tasks simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports and present findings clearly and professionally.
Other Requirements:
  • Mastery of the English language – written and spoken
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation + willingness/ability to travel overnight by car as well as occasional regional air travel
  • Ability to work from ladders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities:
  • Complete detailed reviews of pre-construction due diligence documentation and prepare comprehensive reports that accurately identify and assess construction-related risks for clients.
  • Review and evaluate construction and architectural contracts, plans, specifications, hard-cost budgets, and project schedules.
  • Conduct periodic construction progress site visits and prepare detailed reports providing accurate project updates and professional assessments of construction risks.
  • Perform walkthrough surveys of existing buildings to evaluate the condition of major building systems and develop estimated costs for recommended repairs and improvements.
  • Complete special projects and assignments as directed by the management team.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and industry partners.
  • Maintain excellent client communication and provide responsive, professional service.
  • Promote a positive attitude and demonstrate a willingness to learn, adapt, and overcome challenges.
  • Continuously develop individual strengths, skills, and industry knowledge to support professional growth and career advancement.
  • Assist in expanding the business by engaging with clients, identifying opportunities, and fostering long-term partnerships.
