Job summary

MXI Partners is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the integration of MEP systems for high-value data center projects in the Charlotte, NC area. You will own complex initiatives from planning through completion, ensuring alignment with objectives, timelines, and budget, while coordinating across engineering, construction, controls, commissioning, and site teams.

Job description

MXI Partners are working with one of the most established design/build partners specializing in data center construction.

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the integration of MEP systems for some of their most exciting projects across the Charlotte area.

What you'll do:
  • Take ownership of complex construction and infrastructure initiatives from initial planning through final completion, ensuring projects remain aligned with agreed objectives, timelines, financial targets, and quality requirements.
  • Establish practical delivery strategies covering scope, sequencing, manpower, materials, milestones, and resource requirements, adjusting plans as project conditions evolve.
  • Translate client objectives and technical requirements into clear execution plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Coordinate the delivery of multidisciplinary work involving engineering, construction, controls, commissioning, and site-based teams.
  • Provide direction and support to project personnel, helping establish clear responsibilities, maintain accountability, and promote strong individual and team performance.
  • Build effective working relationships across internal teams, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and other project participants to keep work progressing efficiently.
  • Act as a trusted representative to clients and key stakeholders, providing clear communication, managing expectations, and addressing concerns before they affect delivery.
  • Lead discussions relating to progress, commercial matters, technical issues, programme changes, and project priorities, ensuring decisions are clearly understood and acted upon.
  • Monitor project financials, forecasts, commitments, procurement, contractual matters, and scope changes to maintain commercial control and identify potential impacts early.
  • Evaluate emerging risks and constraints, establish appropriate mitigation measures, and develop alternative approaches where circumstances threaten cost, schedule, safety, or quality.
  • Maintain regular oversight of field activities through site engagement, progress reviews, and coordination with delivery teams to verify that work is meeting established requirements.
What you bring:
  • 5+ years of progressive construction project management experience, with demonstrated ability to lead project teams on large-scale, high-value projects
  • 2+ years of data center project management experience, supporting the integration of electrical and MEP infrastructure and overseeing fit-out scopes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, alongside strong technical proficiencies across project management software (Primavera, MS Project etc.)
  • Must be based in or around Charlotte, NC
