Job summary

Qualifications

  • Manage project costs and labor productivity, monitoring budgets to maximize margin.
  • Forecast revenue, costs, and profitability; track financial performance against plan.
  • Process and manage change orders, ensuring changes are priced and integrated into plans.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks; take corrective actions to prevent delays or overruns.
  • Coach and develop field leadership to improve performance and outcomes.
  • Address delays proactively and drive continuous improvement across PM processes.

Job description

The Project Manager oversees multiple industrial construction projects from estimator handoff through completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with customer and contractual requirements. This role coordinates closely with customers, field leadership, safety teams, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain schedules, manage manpower and resources, control costs, mitigate risks, process change orders, and drive overall project profitability.

  • Lead the project lifecycle from estimator handoff through completion, maintaining clear communication with customers, field leadership, safety personnel, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Create, update, and maintain detailed project schedules, including look-ahead schedules and manpower forecasts, to keep projects on track.
  • Prepare and distribute project reports that communicate progress, risks, and financial performance to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate field crews, Foremen, subcontractors, vendors, equipment, materials, and permits to ensure that all resources are available when needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer communication, proactively addressing questions, concerns, and changes throughout the project.
  • Manage project costs and labor productivity, monitoring budgets and performance to maximize project margin.
  • Perform financial forecasting for assigned projects, tracking revenue, costs, and profitability against plan.
  • Process and manage change orders, ensuring scope changes are documented, priced, approved, and integrated into project plans and schedules.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, taking proactive action to prevent delays, cost overruns, and safety issues.
  • Coach and develop field leadership, providing guidance, feedback, and support to enhance team performance and project outcomes.
  • Proactively address project delays and issues, implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in industrial, manufacturing, and construction environments to align project goals and deliverables.
  • Support and contribute to continuous improvement of project management processes, tools, and best practices across the organization.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial project management experience, with demonstrated success managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong pre-planning and scheduling skills, including the ability to develop and maintain project and look-ahead schedules.
  • Hands-on project management experience in industrial construction, commercial construction, or related industrial project environments.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in industrial, manufacturing, or construction settings.
  • Proficient project management skills, including scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk management.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, field leadership, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines.
  • Financial forecasting skills, including experience tracking budgets, labor productivity, and project margins.
  • Computer skills relevant to project management and construction management tasks.
  • GED or High School Diploma.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical training, construction management coursework, or related education.
  • Experience with construction management software and scheduling tools.
  • Familiarity with job costing systems and processes.
  • Project management certification is a plus but not required.
  • Industrial construction and industrial project experience.
  • Estimation experience in commercial or industrial construction environments.

This role is primarily office-based, focusing on managing projects from the office with some time spent onsite to support field teams and monitor project progress.
