Job summary

Actalent in Columbus, OH seeks a Project Executive to provide strategic leadership and executive oversight for multiple commercial construction projects from award through final completion. This role ensures safe delivery, on schedule, within budget, and in line with quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CM, CE, architecture, or related field required.
  • Proven experience in Sr construction leadership role.
  • Experience delivering commercial construction projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, cost control, contract administration, risk management, quality management, and safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive-level oversight for multiple commercial construction projects from award through final completion.
  • Establish clear project goals and ensure alignment with schedules, budgets, contract requirements, and quality standards.
  • Lead project teams through planning, execution, and closeout to achieve successful delivery.
  • Review staffing, manpower, equipment, and material needs to support project execution.
  • Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and promote accountability and growth.
  • Mentor and develop Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field leadership to build high-performing teams.
  • Maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and project partners.
  • Understand client objectives and provide solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support negotiations of owner contracts and subcontracts in collaboration with Sr leadership.
  • Monitor budgets, costs, expenses, billing, and cash flow to ensure financial health of projects.
  • Develop cost-control strategies to prevent overruns and identify savings opportunities.
  • Review progress and take corrective action with Sr leadership.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and quality-control procedures.
  • Present cost projections, progress updates, risk assessments to Sr leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support business development by representing the firm with clients and partners.
  • Evaluate processes and workflows to improve efficiency and project delivery.

The Project Executive provides strategic leadership and executive-level oversight for multiple commercial construction projects from award through final completion. This role ensures that all projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with established quality standards. The Project Executive leads and supports Project Managers, Superintendents, and Project Engineers while cultivating strong relationships with clients, design professionals, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders. Responsibilities
  • Provide executive-level oversight for multiple commercial construction projects from award through final completion.
  • Establish clear project goals and ensure alignment with project schedules, budgets, contract requirements, and quality standards.
  • Lead project teams through all phases of planning, execution, and closeout to achieve successful project delivery.
  • Review project staffing, manpower, equipment, and material needs to support efficient and effective project execution.
  • Set clear performance expectations for project teams, provide regular feedback, and promote accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Mentor and develop Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other project team members to build high-performing teams.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project partners.
  • Understand client objectives, proactively address concerns, and provide solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and support the negotiation of owner contracts, subcontracts, change orders, and other contractual matters in collaboration with Sr leadership and estimating teams.
  • Monitor project budgets, cost projections, expenses, billing, and cash flow to ensure financial health of projects.
  • Develop and implement cost-control strategies to prevent budget overruns and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Review project progress, financial performance, schedules, and operational challenges with project leadership and take corrective action as needed.
  • Identify project risks early and ensure appropriate mitigation and corrective-action plans are developed and implemented.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, company policies, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality-control procedures across all projects.
  • Prepare and present project cost projections, progress updates, risk assessments, and performance reports to Sr leadership, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts by representing the firm professionally with current and prospective clients and contributing to growth initiatives.
  • Evaluate project processes and workflows and implement best practices that improve efficiency, consistency, and overall project delivery.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Project Executive or in a similar Sr construction leadership role.
  • Extensive commercial construction project management experience with general contractor or construction management environments.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering commercial construction projects on schedule and within budget.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, cost control, contract administration, risk management, quality management, and safety practices.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to review and interpret budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and other project financial data.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple project teams simultaneously and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, guide, and develop project teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, project partners, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with construction management software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience overseeing multiple concurrent commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Experience supporting business development activities and representing a construction firm to clients and partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and improve project processes and workflows.
  • Experience mentoring and developing Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field leadership.
  • Comfort working closely with Sr leadership on contractual, financial, and operational matters.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
