Job summary

Mirion is seeking a Project Manager for Radiation Monitoring Systems (RMS) to lead multiple concurrent engineering projects from proposal through execution and closure. You will manage scope, schedule, cost, and quality while ensuring safety, regulatory, and contractual compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent engineering projects with a combined value of ≈$10 million+.
• Experience managing projects through full lifecycle from proposal to closure.
• Strong knowledge of PM principles: scope, schedule, cost, resource, risk, change management.
• Experience with budgeting, financial forecasting, EAC, and margin analysis.
• Working knowledge of PM tools including MS Project and Excel.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage customer relationships.

The Radiation Monitoring Systems (RMS) Project Manager is responsible for managing multiple concurrent engineering projects throughout their life cycle, from proposal development and initiation through execution, customer acceptance, and closure.

The role combines project management expertise, technical competency, and commercial awareness to deliver radiation monitoring and nuclear instrumentation systems in accordance with customer requirements and business objectives.

The Project Manager is accountable for project scope, schedule, cost, and quality while ensuring compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, and contractual requirements. The position requires effective stakeholder engagement, sound business judgment, and leadership of multidisciplinary teams across Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Management and Execution

• Lead assigned projects throughout their life cycle, meeting quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
• Develop and maintain project management plans, schedules, budgets, and approved baselines.
• Plan and coordinate resources to achieve project milestones and contractual commitments.
• Monitor project performance, report progress, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

2. Financial and Commercial Management

• Manage project budgets, cost forecasts, Estimate at Completion (EAC), and margins.
• Provide accurate inputs for percentage-of-completion (POC) calculations, monthly reporting, and financial analysis.
• Support technical and commercial proposals, including estimates, schedules, and risk assessments.
• Evaluate the financial and contractual impacts of project changes and coordinate change orders.

3. Stakeholder and Requirements Management

• Serve as the primary customer contact and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Identify, document, and manage stakeholder requirements throughout the project life cycle.
• Ensure project deliverables align with contractual requirements and agreed acceptance criteria.
• Communicate project progress, risks, and issues, ensuring timely resolution or escalation.

4. Risk and Change Management

• Identify, assess, and monitor project risks and opportunities throughout the project life cycle.
• Develop and implement risk response plans and escalated significant risks and issues.
• Apply integrated change control to manage changes to project scope, schedule, and cost baselines.

5. Technical Coordination and Leadership

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality activities.
• Review engineering deliverables for compliance with contractual, technical, regulatory, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), customer acceptance, and project closure.
• Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement of project management processes.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a safe working environment and comply with applicable safety requirements.
• Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and Mirion policies, including the Code of Business Principles, Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and Operational Framework.
• Support staff training and knowledge sharing to ensure operational continuity.
• Occasionally visit customer sites for project meetings or technical walkdowns (estimated travel of 10% or less).
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related natural science or technical discipline, or equivalent demonstrated industrial or military experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent engineering projects with a combined value of approximately $10 million or more.
• Experience managing projects throughout their complete life cycle, from proposal development through customer acceptance and closure.
• Strong knowledge of project management principles, including scope, schedule, cost, resource, risk, and change management.
• Experience with project budgeting, financial forecasting, EAC, and margin analysis.
• Working knowledge of project management tools, including Microsoft Project, Excel, or equivalent applications.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including engineering drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage customer relationships.

Desirable

• Five or more years of experience managing engineering projects.
• Professional project management certification, such as Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent qualification.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly SAP, including project cost control, procurement, and financial reporting.
• Experience in the commercial nuclear power industry, radiation monitoring systems, or nuclear instrumentation and control (I&C).
• Experience with nuclear quality assurance requirements, including ASME NQA-1, and fixed-price or cost-reimbursable contracts.
