TransCore, a subsidiary of ST Engineering, seeks a full-time Project Manager in Ashburn, Virginia. You will coordinate all aspects of projects from initiation through delivery, organizing cross-functional activities to ensure on-time, on-budget outcomes.

You will oversee staff management, documentation, procurement, deployment, and customer relations, driving quality and adherence to standards while supporting business development and proposal activities.

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6–9 years of related experience (2 in leadership) or 14 years of related experience (2 in leadership).

Job description

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Project Manager to join our team in Ashburn, Virginia.

Summary

The Project Manager coordinates all aspects of the company’s project(s) from initiation through delivery. Organizes cross-functional activities, ensuring completion of the project (i.e. product on schedule and within budget constraints). Coordinates project delivery needs regarding staff management, project documentation, equipment specification and procurement, deployment and integration activities, customer and client relations, and project closeout.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for initiating project kick-off, planning, executing with monitoring and controlling, and closing projects.
  • Responsible for the profit and loss of the project delivery.
  • Builds and maintains project schedules per project requirements.
  • Prepares, implements, and monitors schedule and cost controls.
  • Demonstrate the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Defines customer requirements.
  • Manages the customer relationship.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the business.
  • Responsible for delivering quality assurance to the project deliverables and processes.
  • Assists or leads business development opportunities, including team development, proposal management, and price estimate development.
  • Manages projects so that:
    • Project deliverables are of high quality and meet the stakeholders' expectations.
    • Projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in the most efficient manner possible.
    • Project deliverables are deployed and turned over to the agencies smoothly and efficiently.
    • TransCore policies, standards, and best practices are adhered to.
    • Manages O&M projects to ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Prepares project plans that guide project execution to a successful conclusion.
  • Communicates project information, including approach, progress, forecasts, and issues, to stakeholders.
  • Leads project meetings including communication to the team members regarding their roles and expectations on the project.
  • Leads project meetings with the client.
  • Provides guidance to projects on best practices and standards to utilize.
  • Reach out to project team members for status and any blockers or training issues to complete the work on time and budget.
  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various project phases.
  • Define the project metrics to track.
  • Monitor project progress to the plan and to the project metrics established.
  • Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modify project schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepares project reports as required with a keen eye and attention to detail.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
  • Assigns tasks to project staff in a manner that optimizes team performance.
  • Identifies and procures resources necessary to complete projects.
  • Proactively detects and evaluates issues/risks.
  • Support managing project risks with risk register and all follow through related to managing the project risks.
  • Manages project teams - tracks performance, provides feedback, and motivates staff.
  • Manages and administers relevant subcontract agreements.
  • Coordinates company response to RFP or customer request for quotation.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to solve problems independently and collaboratively with the team.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Requires Bachelor’s degree and 6-9 years of related experience (2 in leadership) or 14 years of related experience (2 in leadership).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Project management Skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Suite Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Smartsheet)
  • Excellent Communication skills both internally for the project team and the client.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
