Job summary

Cherokee Nation Defense Solutions (CNDS) is seeking a Project Manager to serve as the primary interface with the Government CO/COR and customer representatives. You will oversee contract performance, enforce standards, and supervise personnel to ensure quality work on schedule.

Required DoD experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office and SharePoint are essential. Candidates must pass Cherokee Federal pre-employment qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience managing federal contracts, with at least 3 years in a DoD environment.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage schedules, personnel, and deliverables in complex environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and task management tools.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of contract performance, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timelines, policies, and procedures outlined in the PWS.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with CO, COR, government management, and customer representatives.
  • Formulate and enforce work standards, assign contractor schedules, review work discrepancies, and supervise contractor personnel.
  • Develop and maintain a Project Management Plan (PMP) including task breakdowns, staffing, dependencies, and mitigation strategies. Maintain the PMP as a living document.
  • Submit Monthly Status Reports (MSR) detailing activities, deliverables, issues, resolutions, employee allocations, clearance levels, and task order accounting.
  • Prepare and submit Problem Notification Reports (PNR) for any schedule delays or contractual issues within two business days of discovery, including resolution plans.
  • Ensure a stable, trained, and proficient workforce; provide necessary training and guidance to maintain readiness.
  • Ensure work coverage during normal duty hours and compliance with business attire requirements and DoD/DHRA operational instructions.
  • Assess information-sharing patterns and recommend process improvements to enhance end-user experience and data transfer.
  • Participate in the Post-Award Conference, preparing a written summary within three business days.
  • Facilitate quarterly contract management review meetings to evaluate performance and discuss issues, following government-provided formats.
  • Use the government task request workflow tool to manage, assign, and track work, ensuring task scope aligns with contract requirements.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Job description

This position requires an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered.

The Project Manager serves as the contractor’s primary point of contact for this contract, acting as the authorized interface with the Government Contracting Officer (CO), Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), government leadership, and customer agency representatives. Responsible for overall contract performance, the Project Manager ensures quality work is completed on schedule, work standards are enforced, personnel are effectively supervised, and policies, goals, and objectives are clearly communicated. Prior Department of Defense (DoD) experience is required.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Project Manager: Pay commensurate with experience.
