Job summary

IES Communications in Texas seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead large, high‑risk contract projects worth $1M+ and mentor the PMO community. You will coordinate operations, ensure safety, quality, and financial performance, and act as escalation point with management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum seven (7) years of supervisory or managerial experience.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, support, and report on large, high‑risk projects focusing on risk management, profit margins, safety, quality, and client experience.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and engage in major project escalations until resolution.
  • Track project financials, KPIs, forecasting, and staffing to ensure profitable delivery.
  • Mentor and coach junior Project Managers to enhance skills and development.
  • Represent PMO in handoffs and meetings for Tier 5 levels; manage workload distribution.
  • Review job costs, invoicing, collections, and financial reporting to customers and management.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and customer delivery standards.

Job description

Job Summary The Project Manager will act as a tactical leadership and support function for Operations. This role will monitor, support, and perform work for the largest contract value projects (including projects deemed as high risk). This role will also act as a senior escalation point for the PM community and will partner with local Operations Management and assigned project PM to resolve intensified issues. The Sr. Project Manager also serves as a mentor/coach to the PM community throughout the project engagements. Overall, the Sr. Project Manager ensures that all contracted work is developed, implemented, installed, and managed in accordance with the Company’s requirements, including safety, quality, management, and financial performance requirements. All aspects of the assigned project(s) must be carried out efficiently with respect to staffing, materials management, financial management, customer care, and customer delivery goals.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor, support, and report on the largest profile projects focusing on risk management, profit margin protection, efficient implementation practices, safety, quality, and client experience.
  • Monitor, support, and report on high‑risk projects with similar focus.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies to proactively address challenges during project execution.
  • Engage in significant project escalations from any operations branch/department/program and stay involved until the issue is resolved.
  • Track project financials, statistics, key performance indicators, forecasting, etc. to monitor performance.
  • Mentor and coach partnering Project Managers to enhance development and skillset.
  • Represent PMO involvement in “Pre‑Con/Ops Handoff” and “Ops Implementation” meetings for Tier 5 levels.
  • Manage workload distribution and monitor customer delivery and job installation progress.
  • Plan for, manage, monitor, and maintain project profitability to achieve Company goals.
  • Review all job cost postings for accuracy and completeness, including invoicing, customer collections, and periodic financial reporting to customer and management.
  • Manage all related quality and safety issues on customer work.
  • Participate in and/or facilitate the bid process.
  • Act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
  • Create, develop, and implement account process improvements.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Proven problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, reading, writing, and oral presentation skills.
  • High skill level interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Willingness to travel to jobsites as needed.
  • Ability to learn Company and customer project management systems.
  • Ability to secure and maintain an American Express Card sponsored by the Company.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience in customer and General Contractor interactions.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field.
  • Experience Project Managing large and complex projects (+$1M).
  • Experience managing challenging projects pertaining to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Experience mentoring, guiding, and supporting other Project Managers.
  • Experience with formal scheduling Gantt chart tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, Wrike, Smartsheet, Excel).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a scope of work, develop detailed tasks, and manage to final completion and customer turnover.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft Teams.
  • Meet Company minimum driving standards.
