Job summary

Salas O’Brien in New York City seeks a project manager to lead schedule, budget, and scope across commercial feasibility studies and design projects. The role requires a detail-oriented, problem-solving professional with 3–5 years PM experience.

Plan activities, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure on-time, high-quality deliverables while maintaining client communication and project baselines. ABET BS preferred; strong MS Office and BIM tool basics supported.

Qualifications

  • ABET accredited BS degree required.
  • 5-7 years technical experience in AEC field.
  • 3-5 years project management experience.
  • Proficient in CPM, cost control, budgets and tracking.
  • Strong communication across disciplines and clients.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; basic BIM tools.

Responsibilities

  • Review project requirements and clarify ambiguities.
  • Plan activities, costs, and schedules based on scopes.
  • Support proposal development for scope and deliverables.
  • Initiate new projects with team and stakeholders.
  • Manage project team to produce timely, quality deliverables.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain minutes.
  • Coordinate cross-discipline activities.
  • Generate project reports using company tools.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules with leads.
  • Ensure quality control meets standards.
  • Manage scope changes and coordinate with management and clients.
  • Close out projects with complete deliverables and docs.
  • Track lessons learned for process improvements.
  • Support new business development opportunities.
  • Communicate project status with office management.
  • Represent the firm professionally and supervise peers.

Job Summary

This role is a member of the technical staff and fills a pivotal role as a project manager effectively manages schedule, budget, and technical scope to reduce risk and manage dynamic and changing projects. The ideal candidate would be a detail-oriented professional who also has problem-solving project manager experience on commercial and institutional feasibility studies and design projects.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Receive and review project requirements and obtain clarification on any conflicting, missing, or vague items.
  • Plan project activities, costs, and schedules based on team inputs and client scopes.
  • Support proposal development for scope and deliverable expectations.
  • Initiate newly awarded projects with team and client stakeholders and establish the performance baselines.
  • Manage the project team to ensure production of complete, timely, quality deliverables within budget.
  • Manage project-related meetings and keep minutes.
  • Manage internal cross discipline coordination.
  • Generate project reports utilizing company software tools.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules in collaboration with team leads.
  • Ensure quality control meets company and client standards throughout the project.
  • Control project scope when issues or changes surface and coordinate the changes with company management and clients.
  • Closeout projects ensuring all deliverable have been provided and documentation is complete.
  • Track lessons learned and communicate with management to support continuous improvements in company processes.
  • Support new business development opportunities.
  • Communicate and coordinate with office management on project status.
  • Promote and represent the firm in a professional manner.
  • Supervise and provide performance feedback to peers and subordinates.
Qualifications And Experience
  • Minimum of an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science degree.
  • 5-7 years technical experience in the architecture/engineering/construction field.
  • 3-5 years project management experience.
  • Proficient in project management skillsets like critical path, cost control, budget and deliverable tracking, risk management and communication.
  • Proficient with Microsoft: Windows, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Basic proficiency with Bluebeam, SharePoint, CAD and Revit.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected base salary range for this role is $85,000-$115,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience and qualifications.
