Job summary

MLC, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is seeking a Project Management Co-Op to support capital projects, plant improvements, and maintenance initiatives across its facilities.

You will gain hands-on exposure to project lifecycle management from feasibility studies through closeout, collaborating with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Purchasing and Environmental teams. The position offers opportunities to develop project management, cost estimating, and reporting skills while

Qualifications

• Sophomore standing or higher pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing, mining, and chemical processing environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all safety and environmental requirements

Responsibilities

• Assist with capital project planning, budgeting, and feasibility studies
• Support project justification efforts by evaluating costs, benefits, and operational impacts
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, timelines, and success metrics
• Review engineering drawings, technical documentation, and project specifications
• Assist in developing scopes of work, cost estimates, bid packages, and contractor evaluations
• Track project schedules, budgets, and progress to ensure successful project execution
• Participate in construction oversight activities and help ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards
• Support communication and coordination among departments
• Assist with project reporting, documentation, and closeout activities
• Support kiln shutdown planning and execution activities as assigned
• Maintain project records and documentation for future operational and maintenance use
• Help improve existing databases and information management systems while identifying opportunities to develop new tools and processes
