Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Project Leader 1 to direct reinvestment and modernization projects within the Institutional Facilities Division, coordinating with IPTs and external partners to deliver safely, on time, and within budget.

This entry-level leadership role offers exposure to DOE national security missions, cross-functional teamwork, and opportunities for professional growth as LANL advances its mission in science and national security.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of all aspects of project portfolio management, technical, and operational projects, including forecasting, preparing, managing, and maintaining budgets for projects and programs.
• Ability to learn the Utilities and Transportation portfolios.
• Organizational skills: ability to work effectively under pressure of deadlines, changing priorities, taking initiative and organizing multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Works to assure safety and security compliance, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task.
• Supports the development of the scope of work and requirements for a diverse set of projects within the IF portfolio.
• Provides leadership or support in overseeing, being a primary spokesperson, creating a team environment, and driving execution for all work performed by a large and diverse set of IPT members from project initiation through final closeout of a project.
• Supports the tracking and reporting of project deliverable milestones, budgets, and schedules.
• Under direction identify potential project risks, develop risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions, and recommends risk acceptance/avoidance for all aspects of the project(s).
• Works with experienced IPT professionals to obtain resources using either internal or external sources, identify procurement and contracting needs, and integrate resources to complete project deliverables within the scope, schedules, and budgets defined.
