Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Execution:
- Lead and manage automation systems projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timeline.
- Collaborate with clients, engineering teams, and stakeholders to define requirements, objectives, and deliverables.
- Develop detailed project plans, work breakdown structures, and schedules.
- Monitor progress, identify issues, and manage risks and changes proactively.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead engineers, technicians, and support staff, providing guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture, encouraging knowledge sharing and development.
- Assign tasks, set expectations, and manage team performance to meet objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated automation solutions.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding needs and ensuring satisfaction.
- Serve as the primary contact, addressing concerns, providing updates, and managing expectations.
- Communicate project status, progress, and milestones transparently to clients and stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure projects meet quality standards and comply with industry codes and regulations.
- Conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance with specifications and safety standards.
- Implement quality control processes, driving continuous improvement.
- Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and resources.
- Coordinate with procurement and supply chain for materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Monitor financials, forecast expenditures, and identify profitability opportunities.
- Travel Requirements:
- Be open to travel, approximately 25%, for on-site visits and client meetings.
- Automation Systems Expertise:
- Possess technical knowledge of automation systems, including switchgear, power distribution, metering, and motor control centers.
- Apply industry standards in design, implementation, and integration.
- Provide technical guidance to ensure project success.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in engineering with 7+ years of experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with 10+ years of experience.
- Experience with electrical projects valued from $500,000 to $10M.
- Experience with contract documents, project management software, and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of technical design and project deliverables.
- Strong interpersonal, writing, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and proficiency in MS Excel; experience with MS Project is a plus.
- Working knowledge of automation technologies.
- Willingness to learn and grow into a leadership role.
- Leadership and communication skills to motivate teams.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software.
- Financial literacy and project financial reporting experience.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Project management certifications (PMP or CAP) are highly desirable.
