Responsibilities

The Assistant Project Leader is a training position that involves learning to supervise and direct employees on a project, prepare strategic plans and budgets, develop comprehensive project plans, and analyze statistical data.

• Run day-to-day operations of a project or part of a project.
• Identify change orders and ensure effective resolution.
• Price, track, and manage change orders.
• Plan and monitor cash flow against expenses.
• Maintain as-builts as work is completed.
• Document project issues/conditions.
• Plan and execute project completion and punch list.
• Develop goals and plans to organize and accomplish work.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Research and compile submittals; price change orders; prepare estimates for partially designed projects by finishing the design and preparing a complete project estimate.
• Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
• Communicate with external parties, representing the company to customers, the public, government, and contractors.
• Understand the importance of timeliness in decision-making, RFIs, and documentation of verbal agreements.

Qualifications

• BS degree (preferably in Electrical Engineering or related field) with 5+ years of experience.
• Related construction experience with five years working for an electrical or construction contractor.
• Experience managing construction projects ranging from $500,000 to $10M.
• Experience with contract drawings, subcontracts, addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, and submittals.
• Knowledge of CPM scheduling, design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.
• Strong interpersonal and writing skills; problem-solving ability.
• Proven ability to plan and organize activities effectively.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Blue Beam, and PDF.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Accubid Estimating or similar tools related to electrical installations.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling or equivalent.
• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
