Job summary

Pennoni is seeking an experienced Project Highway Engineer to join our Transportation team in Philadelphia. The role covers highway, drainage, and multimodal design, with emphasis on accurate budgeting and reporting.

You will lead roadway design efforts, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and deliver high-quality design documents. Ideal candidates have 5–10 years in transportation engineering, PE licensure, and hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil3D or Microstation/Open Roads Designer.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required; MS a plus.
• 5–10 years of transportation engineering experience required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D or Microstation/Open Roads Designer.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual and final design of roadway, highway, and multimodal solutions.
• Develop geometric layouts, grading and drainage design, and utilities layout.
• Prepare and review design criteria, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Develop 3D modeling for roadway alignments.
• Coordinate temporary traffic control and constructability reviews.
• Prepare right-of-way and easement plans.

Project Highway Engineer

Pennoni is growing and we have an opening for an experienced Project Highway Engineer to join our Transportation team in our Philadelphia, with experience consistent, but not limited to:

Responsibilities

Duties include highway engineering, stormwater management and drainage design, cost estimating, and report writing.

• Conceptual and final design of roadway, highway, and multi-modal engineering solutions for a variety of transportation-related projects including development of geometric horizontal and vertical layout, grading and drainage design, and utilities layout
• Preparation and review of roadway design criteria, calculations, drawings, estimates, and specifications
• Development of 3D modeling for conceptual roadway alignments
• Temporary traffic control development
• Constructability development and review
• Typical section development and pavement design
• Preparation of right-of-way and easement plans
