Job summary

Pennoni is hiring a Graduate Highway Engineer for our Newark, DE office. This full-time, direct role sits in Pennoni’s Transportation Design Hub and focuses on highway design and transportation infrastructure modeling using MicroStation Connect and ORD.

You'll work with a collaborative team on a range of assignments for state agencies and municipalities, with opportunities to develop plans, hydrology and drainage, MOT and traffic control strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• 0-4 years of highway design experience.
• Experience with MicroStation Connect and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
• Familiarity with DelDOT design standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Passion for design and modeling of transportation infrastructure projects using MicroStation/OpenRoads.
• Contribute to transportation plans including highway design, hydrology and drainage calculations, SWM/ES&C design, water/sewer layouts, MOT plans, ROW plans, and geometry.
• Support projects of varying sizes for state agencies, counties, and municipalities.
• Participate in development of engineering designs and deliver plans, documents, and reports in a team setting.

JobResponsibilities

• Passion for design, including Microstation/OpenRoads (ORD) Modeling of transportation infrastructure projects.
• Contribute to developing set of Transportation plans, including highway design, hydrology and drainage calculations and design, SWM and ES&C design; water and sanitary sewer utility layout, MOT plans, Right-of-Way plans and geometry.
• Support projects / tasks of various sizes for a variety of clients (including state agencies, counties, and local municipalities.)
• Participate in the development of engineering design projects, while working in a team environment to produce engineering plans, documents, and reports.

Required Attributes:

• Required education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Highway and roadway design experience using MicroStation Connect, OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
• 0-4 years of experience

Preferred Attributes:

• Familiarity with DelDOT Design Standards and Manuals
• Highway and roadway design experience using ProjectWise (PW), AutoTURN experience
• Bluebeam PDF editor experience
• GIS experience
• ADA and curb ramp design
• Developing project cost estimates and specifications, including Special Provisions
• Drainage design, SWM and ES&C design experience. CCR certification
• Construction consultation and utility coordination experience
• Hydrology and Hydraulic (H&H) design experience
• Utility Design, water and sanitary sewer utility layout and lighting design
• Developing Maintenance of Traffic schemes, Construction Phasing and Traffic Control Plans
• Licenses preferred: EIT
