Job summary

ThinkingAhead is partnered with a 100% employee-owned commercial general contractor in Portland, ME, seeking a Project Executive to oversee multiple projects and guide PMs from preconstruction through closeout.

You will drive project strategy, risk management, and client relationships while supporting business growth. The role offers a base salary of $140,000–$160,000 plus annual bonus and ESOP, with full benefits and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial construction experience with a General Contractor.
• Leadership experience as Project Executive, Senior Project Manager or similar.
• Proven success managing large commercial projects ($10M–$75M+).
• Strong mentoring and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight on multiple commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Mentor and support Project Managers to ensure schedule, budget and quality success.
• Partner with executive leadership on project strategy, risk management and planning.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with owners, architects, engineers and key clients.
• Participate in business development and help secure future work.
• Lead contract strategy, financial oversight, forecasting, WIP reviews and overall project performance.

Project Executive - Commercial Construction

$140,000-$160,000 Base + Annual Bonus + ESOP

I'm partnering with a well-established, 100% employee-owned commercial general contractor that is looking to add an experienced Project Executive to its leadership team.

This is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing multiple large commercial projects while providing executive-level guidance to Project Managers, developing client relationships and helping drive continued business growth.

What You'll Do

• Provide executive oversight on multiple commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Mentor and support Project Managers while helping ensure project success across schedule, budget and quality.
• Partner with executive leadership on project strategy, risk management and operational planning.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with owners, architects, engineers and key clients.
• Participate in business development efforts and help secure future work.
• Lead contract strategy, financial oversight, forecasting, WIP reviews and overall project performance.
• Identify project risks early and develop solutions that protect both the client and company.
• Support preconstruction efforts, project pursuits and major client presentations.
• Foster a collaborative culture while developing the next generation of project leadership.

What They're Looking For

• 10+ years of commercial construction experience with a General Contractor.
• Previous experience as a Project Executive, Senior Project Manager or similar leadership role.
• Proven success managing large commercial projects valued between $10M and $75M+.
• Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring Project Managers and project teams.
• Demonstrated business development and client relationship experience.
• Excellent financial management skills including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and WIP.
• Strong understanding of contracts, scheduling, procurement and construction operations.
• Experience with Procore, Sage Timberline, MS Office and MS Project preferred.
