Our client is a U.S.-based low voltage and security systems contractor serving private, commercial, city, state, and federal projects. The company designs and installs CCTV and video surveillance, access control, intercoms, structured cabling, door hardware, alarms, turnstiles, and 24/7 monitoring for construction sites and existing facilities. The team is small and actively growing, and this role owns the estimating and bidding function end to end.

Position Overview

The Low Voltage Security Estimator will take projects from plan review all the way through estimating, bidding, and submittals, with Division 27 and 28 low voltage scopes as the core focus. This role goes beyond estimating to include drawing preparation, submittals, RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and vendor outreach for non-spec items. The ideal candidate has solid U.S.-based estimating experience, strong blueprint reading, command of the full bidding process, and the organization to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, blueprints, notes, and project requirements for low voltage and security scopes
• Perform material and labor takeoffs for Division 27 and 28 systems, including alarms, card access, CCTV, intercoms, and structured cabling
• Estimate related Division 8 scopes, including door hardware and electrified locking
• Develop system designs and prepare project drawings
• Prepare and manage submittals, either with the bid or after award depending on the project
• Prepare and submit RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs
• Reach out to vendors to obtain pricing, including for non-spec items
• Put together complete, competitive project proposals and bid packages
• Bid projects across private/commercial, city, state, and federal work, using bidding platforms such as Procore and Buildings.net
• Manage multiple active bids simultaneously and meet all submission deadlines
• Work independently to carry projects from initial plan review through the full estimating and bidding process

• Strong understanding of the full bidding process, from plan review through proposal submission
• Blueprint reading ability (non-negotiable)
• Experience estimating low voltage and security systems, including CCTV/video surveillance, access control, intercoms, data and network cabling, and burglar alarms
• Experience performing material and labor takeoffs from plans and specifications
• Experience preparing submittals and RFIs
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Adobe
• Experience with bidding platforms such as Procore and Buildings.net
• Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-up and follow-through
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for vendor and project correspondence

Preferred Qualifications

• Private and commercial project experience, particularly fiber work
• Government contracting and bidding experience on city, state, or federal projects
• Division 8 door hardware and electrified locking estimating experience
• Experience with turnstiles and 24/7 site or facility monitoring systems
• System design experience for low voltage and security projects
• Experience with dedicated estimating software
