Job description

Low Voltage Estimator – Full Scope Division 27/28 Fort Lauderdale, FL | Full-time | On-site

Why this role exists

Coranet needs an estimator who can own complete commercial low-voltage bid packages-from drawing review and takeoff through pricing, proposal, and post-award turnover. You'll work directly with sales, vendors, and project managers to deliver accurate, clearly scoped bids on time.

This is a hands-on estimating role. You should be comfortable identifying missing information, developing documented assumptions, coordinating specialty-system pricing, and moving a bid forward without waiting for a perfect set of documents.

About Coranet

Coranet is a national low-voltage integrator - structured cabling (Div. 27), physical security and access control (Div. 28), wireless/DAS, and AV. We work with developers and general contractors on ground-up new construction, major renovations, and enterprise environments across Florida, the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and Texas. Inc. 5000 for four years running. Certified Women-Owned Small Business.

What you'll own
  • Complete bid packages: R eview plans, specifications, addenda, schedules, and bid requirements. Own the consolidated low-voltage scope, including interfaces between systems and other trades
  • Takeoffs in Bluebeam Revu. Drawings, specs, addenda, symbol sets, toolsets, revisions. This is where you'll live. Detailed and accurate with part numbers and counts.
  • Estimates in simPRO. Labor, material, assemblies, job-costing inputs. If you haven't used simPRO, we'll teach you - it's learnable in weeks if you already think like an estimator.
  • Full Div. 27/28 scope: structured cabling, fiber, pathway and support, racks and cabinets, CCTV, access control, intrusion, wireless, AV, BDA, and related systems.
  • Scope gaps and bid risks. Find what's missing or contradictory in the documents, write the RFIs and clarifications, propose the fix. Nobody hands you a clean set.
  • Proposals and bid reviews:Clean, defensible scope language - inclusions, exclusions, assumptions, alternates, value engineering.
  • Vendor and manufacturer pricing. Solicit, level, and validate distributor and sub quotes. Push for better numbers.
  • Post-award support: Cut sheets, product data, and a clean turnover to PM: scope, assumptions, labor plan, procurement notes. You stay with the job past the win.
  • Bid pipeline. Track what's out, follow up, flag risk, keep award probability honest.
  • Customer support and sales pitches: support sales technically on customer pitches as needed

You’ll work shoulder to shoulder with sales – in on pitches and bid reviews as the technical voice in the room.

What you'll bring
  • Experience independently estimating commercial low-voltage projects, including takeoffs, labor and material pricing, vendor coordination, and proposal preparation.
  • Strong working knowledge of structured cabling, access control and physical security, with the ability to coordinate pricing for other systems within a complete package.
  • Strong Bluebeam Revu skills or demonstrated proficiency with comparable takeoff software.
  • The ability to read and reconcile plans, specifications, schedules, risers, and addenda.
  • Sound judgment about what is included, what is missing, and when an assumption needs review.
  • Reliable deadline management and the ability to handle multiple bids.
  • Availability to work daily in our Fort Lauderdale office.
Nice to have - we'll train the rest
  • simPRO, or another estimating/ops platform (Accubid, McCormick, ConEst, D-Tools).
  • Access control and VMS platforms: LenelS2, Genetec, Software House, AMAG, HID, Avigilon, Milestone, Verkada, Brivo, Openpath.
  • Light engineering instinct: device placement logic, system architecture, riser and schematic coordination.
  • AV, BMS, lighting control, or DAS exposure.
  • BICSI, RCDD, or manufacturer certifications. Associate's degree or trade/technical training a plus, not required.
Your first 90 days
  • Weeks 1–2: Learn our assemblies, labor units, and proposal standards. Shadow live bids. Produce your first quote.
  • Weeks 3–6: Own small-to-mid bids independently, start to finish.
  • By day 90: Carrying full ground-up new construction packages with minimal review, and running your own submittals.
What we offer
  • Competitive salary depending on experience, plus performance bonus tied to what you bid and win.
  • Full benefits: healthcare, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, paid holidays.
  • A team that trains in person. You will not be left to figure out a system you've never estimated on your own.
  • Direct access to leadership and real influence over how we bid. Small enough that your judgment matters, big enough to chase serious work.
