Job summary

Avila Construction Group seeks a Project Estimator to join our San Antonio, TX office. The role supports management and estimating staff in reviewing project plans, requirements and specifications for water/wastewater facilities.

The estimator will work on hard bid, negotiated and conceptual projects, leveraging extensive knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles to develop and manage assigned portions of the estimate.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience.
• Experience as estimator or project manager on water/wastewater projects from $3-25 million.
• Understanding of all applicable estimating software.
• Extensive knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles.
• Prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines while handling changing tasks and demands.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans, requirements and specifications.
• Determine labor and equipment costs.
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.
• Review and understand all bid documents and assess project risks.
• Understand project logistics and project schedule.
• Prepare bid packages. Compare and analyze competitive subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Review quotes and estimates with the Project Management Team.
• Assist with certain post-bid buyouts.

Job description

We are currently seeking a Project Estimator to work in our San Antonio, TX office.

The Estimator will support and work with management, operations and estimating staff in the review of project plans, requirements and specifications. Qualified individuals will have estimating or project management experience with water / wastewater treatment facilities. The Estimator shall have extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and engineering principles. Must be confident working with estimating teams on projects of varying sizes, and be capable of estimating hard bid, negotiated and conceptual projects. Individual must be self-motivated, possess strong communication/interpersonal skills and be confident in his/her ability to develop and manage their assigned portion of the estimate.
