Job summary

Factor Search is seeking an experienced W/WWTP Construction Estimator to join our team, focusing on estimating and preconstruction for water and wastewater treatment projects.

The role involves preparing detailed estimates, reviewing specs, and developing pricing for labor, equipment, and materials for large-scale infrastructure. A strong background in heavy civil, water/wastewater, and related facilities is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably in water/wastewater.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and contract documents.
• Experience with quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimating.
• Strong knowledge of subcontractor and supplier markets.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed conceptual, preliminary, and final estimates for water and wastewater projects.
• Review drawings, specs, scope documents, and contract requirements to develop accurate cost estimates.
• Develop quantity take-offs for civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, and sitework packages.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor, supplier, and vendor quotations.
• Develop detailed pricing for labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and general conditions.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and operations throughout the estimating and bidding process.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions, and opportunities for value engineering.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, scope reviews, and client presentations.
• Develop and maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and productivity rates.
• Support the development of project schedules, procurement strategies, and construction methodologies.
• Prepare bid packages and review subcontractor proposals for completeness and compliance.
• Present estimates and pricing strategies to senior management and project leadership.
• Assist with turnover from estimating/preconstruction to the project execution team.

The successful candidate will have strong experience estimating construction projects within the water/wastewater sector and will be responsible for developing accurate, competitive bids from concept through contract award.

Requirements

• 5+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably within water/wastewater treatment.
• Experience estimating W/WWTP, water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, pipelines, or related heavy civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and productivity.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and contract documents.
• Experience with quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimating.
• Strong knowledge of subcontractor and supplier markets.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and construction estimating software.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
