Job summary

Premier Technology Inc. is seeking a cost engineer to review customer RFQs, analyze drawings and specifications, and develop fabrication and execution plans to establish accurate pricing baselines in Idaho.

You will prepare detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors; identify and coordinate with vetted vendors; and support proposals, scheduling, and post‑project cost analyses using MS Project and advanced Excel.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Experience with cost modeling, labor estimating, and material takeoffs.
• Hands-on fabrication experience with estimating responsibilities.
• Independent analysis of technical drawings and cost data.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze customer RFQs including drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation.
• Develop fabrication and execution plans with manufacturing engineers to establish the basis of estimate for each project.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
• Identify, evaluate, and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to support accurate pricing and scheduling.
• Create work breakdown structures and support project schedules using MS Project, as required.
• Assist in the preparation of customer quotations and proposals to ensure compliance with technical and commercial requirements.
• Coordinate with Account Managers and cross-functional teams to confirm availability of manpower, equipment, and materials.
• Provide support for the development of technical proposals and supporting documentation.
• Present cost estimates for internal review and approval.
• Perform post‑project cost analysis by comparing estimated costs to actual results and identifying root causes of variances.
• Identify cost trends and provide input to cost reduction initiatives and process improvement efforts.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

• Associate’s degree from a two‑year college or university, or five (5) or more years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Multiple years of hands‑on fabrication experience combined with estimating responsibilities.
• Independent analysis of technical drawings, manufacturing processes, labor requirements, and material costs.
• Ability to evaluate multiple execution scenarios, assess vendor and subcontractor options, and make judgment‑based decisions that affect project feasibility, pricing strategy, and resource allocation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
