Responsibilities

• Prioritize and track drawing revisions, change notices, and engineering actions to support schedules.
• Set expectations for participation in production meetings and report holdups and risks.
• Collaborate with Operations and Engineering leadership to integrate technical risks into discussions.
• Work closely with Ships Manager to coordinate activities.
• Guide multidisciplinary evaluations supporting manufacturing, construction, testing, and certification events.
• Maintain awareness of shipyard policies and provide informed technical guidance.

The G r oton D37 7 Project Engineering Team is seeking a highly motivated Supervisor to lead and develop a team of Module Leads and general foreman support engineers supporting SSBN 826 and 827 construction. This leadership role is responsible for guiding engineers who serve as the primary technical point of contact between Engineering and Operations for assigned modules and general foreman .

The Supervisor ensures the team is equipped to provide timely engineering support, drive closure of issues affecting construction progress, and maintain strong communication across trades, engineering disciplines, and shipyard management. This role is pivotal in supporting first of class construction and ensuring modules progress through assembly, outfitting, test, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Module Leads and General Foreman Support Engineers , ensuring strong technical performance, effective communication, and alignment with shipyard priorities.
• Oversee engineering responses to emergent shipyard issues; ensure assessments are communicated clearly to trade leadership and shipyard management.
• Direct the teams daily support to the trades, enabling efficient navigation of disclosures, work packages, build sequence questions, and technical clarifications.
• Prioritize and track drawing revisions, change notices, and other engineering actions required to support construction schedule needs.
• Set expectations for Module Lead participation in production meetings (startup, plan of the day, shift turnover) and ensure accurate reporting of holdups, risk areas, and action statuses.
• Collaborate with Operations, Planning, and Engineering leadership to integrate technical risks into project discussions and develop forward looking mitigation strategies.
• Work Closely with the Ships Manager.
• Guide the teams coordination of multidisciplinary engineering evaluations supporting manufacturing, construction, testing, and certification events.
• Maintain awareness of shipyard policies, processes, and major evolutions, ensuring the team provides informed, consistent technical guidance.
• Support government certification events and interface with internal and external stakeholders as necessary.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership capability along with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills. Candidates should be highly motivated, able to manage multiple priorities, and excel in a collaborative environment while guiding teams through complex technical and schedule driven challenges. Ability to navigate EB business systems (Teamcenter, Electronic Desktop, DLS/TLS/Critique Database, 3G, 7G, Artemis) is preferred. Knowledge of Teamcenter and COLUMBIA Class design is preferred. Working level knowledge of EB Planning organization is preferred. Direct knowledge of shipyard construction, overhaul & repair, and/or testing programs is preferred. Familiarity with shipyard organizational structure and procedures is preferred.

• B.S. Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Naval Architecture, Marine, Aeronautical/Aerospace, or similar)
• At least four years of postgraduate engineering experience
• Willingness to work extended and/or weekend hours

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a shipyard environment
• Experience with CR/CN processes and engineering change management
• Previous experience as a Proactive Design Agent , Deckplate engineer, or Module Lead
• Operations or NAVY experience
• Previous experience in a leadership role
• Root cause analysis and learning session experience
• Experience with conducting engineering or operations surveillances
• Project management experience or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
• 5+ years in a shipyard environment
