Helix Energy Solutions Group in Houston seeks a Project Engineering Manager to lead engineering activities supporting offshore and subsea projects, with emphasis on work-class ROV operations. You will oversee the project engineering team, ensure technical deliverables, equipment integration, and safe, cost-effective execution.

Responsibilities include guiding engineering deliverables, procedures, and documentation; providing technical oversight for ROV systems and offshore equipment;

• Minimum 8–10 years of relevant offshore engineering experience.

The Project Engineering Manager is responsible for leading engineering activities supporting the planning, preparation, mobilization, and execution of offshore and subsea projects, with emphasis on work-class ROV operations. The position oversees the project engineering team, ensuring technical deliverables, equipment integration, and operational methodologies support safe, efficient, and cost-effective project execution.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the project engineering team, managing workloads, resources, and personnel performance.
• Oversee engineering deliverables, technical procedures, and project execution documentation.
• Provide technical oversight for ROV systems, subsea tooling, and equipment integration.
• Coordinate engineering support for vessel mobilizations, lifting arrangements, sea fastening, and offshore operations.
• Review and approve engineering documentation within delegated authority, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Provide technical guidance to Project Managers and offshore personnel, resolving complex engineering challenges.

Qualifications

Education / Training:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Ocean, Marine, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

Experience:

Minimum 8-10 years of relevant engineering experience in offshore construction, subsea operations, or ROV services, including leadership experience.

Special Requirements

• Strong technical knowledge of work-class ROV systems, subsea tooling, and offshore equipment integration.
• Experience managing engineering teams, project deliverables, budgets, and resources.
• Comprehensive understanding of vessel mobilizations, offshore lifting operations, and subsea intervention activities.
• Familiarity with applicable industry standards, including IMCA guidance and HSEQ requirements.
• Strong technical judgment, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively with project management and offshore operations teams.
• Willingness to travel domestically, internationally, and offshore as required.

Working Conditions

• Primarily office based, with some vessels in port and shop environment work.
• This position is expected to report in office.
