Job summary

Broan-NuTone LLC, a leading residential ventilation solutions provider, is seeking a Project Engineering Intern to support day‑to‑day department activities, project work, and process improvement initiatives. This role offers hands‑on experience and mentorship within a professional setting.

The internship runs June through August, full‑time, onsite, with opportunities to develop practical skills in engineering concepts, CAD modeling, testing, and ECN management.

Responsibilities

  • Participate and/or lead creating innovation concepts; develop prototypes.
  • Create and/or revise simple 3D CAD models/assemblies and 2D drawings in Creo.
  • Update designs using CAD tools as directed by a Sr. engineer.
  • Contribute to design and analysis of electromechanical components and systems.
  • Perform basic engineering design tasks and calculations.
  • Assist in standard testing and analysis of results.
  • Prepare written summaries of meeting notes and tasks.
  • Manage Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs).

Job Title: Project Engineering Intern

Location: Hartford, WI

Position Summary: The Intern will support day-to-day department activities, project work, and process improvement initiatives while gaining hands‑on experience in a professional business environment. This role is designed for a student or early‑career professional who is eager to learn, contribute to meaningful work, and develop practical skills related to their field of study or career interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate and or lead creating innovation concepts as assigned, develop prototypes, lead competitive evaluation.
  • Create and/or revise simple 3D CAD models/assemblies and 2D drawings in Creo.
  • Utilize CAD or design tools as applicable to update designs as directed by a Sr. engineer, including new, revise, and modify products.
  • Participate in and contribute to design, development, implementation, and analysis of electromechanical components, systems, and/or products by following prescribed procedures.
  • Perform simple and routine engineering design tasks and calculations using standard techniques.
  • Assist in conducting standard testing and/or the analysis of standard test results.
  • Prepare written summaries related to meeting notes, assigned/completed tasks, and Engineering tests.
  • Participate and or lead creating innovation concepts as assigned, develop prototypes, lead competitive evaluation.
  • Author and manage Engineering Change Notifications (ECN’s) through a workflow process.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree, certificate, or training program in engineering, or recent graduate seeking practical experience.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical devices, electromechanical components, electrical connections, and home appliances Sound knowledge to identify problems in design/application by using engineering principles Effectively communicate through verbal, written, and electronic means.
  • Provide regular status updates as requested.
  • Speak and write English effectively to articulate information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office- Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge and experience to use mechanical basic tools and instruments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous internship, part-time work, volunteer, project, or campus leadership experience.
  • Experience/Interest in designs related to air/liquid/particulate flow-movement.
  • CAD software (Creo) knowledge.
  • Interest in learning about the company, industry, and potential career paths.
