Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards is offering a Project Engineering Intern summer internship at our Mandeville, Metairie, and Lockport facilities. This full-time, on-site role is ideal for students in Mechanical, Electrical, or Naval Architecture programs.

You will support project engineers with visits to vessels under construction, tracking engineering scope, schedule, and budget, and you will gain hands-on experience in a real-world setting.

Qualifications

• Currently a Junior or Senior enrolled in an undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar engineering software is a plus.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Visit vessels under construction to understand the project scope and required engineering skill sets.
• Assist Project Engineers with tracking and reporting for scope, schedule, and budget.
• Work on-site across Mandeville, Metairie, and Lockport facilities; PPE as required.
• Gain hands-on exposure to light-duty project engineering tasks.

Job description

Title: Project Engineering Intern

Location: Rotating between Mandeville, Metairie, and Lockport Locations

Position Overview: Bollinger is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineering Intern for a full-time, on-site summer internship at our Mandeville, Metairie, and Lockport facilities. This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Naval Architecture who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a professional, real-world environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Report to Project Engineers to visit new vessels under construction, in order to get an appreciation for the vessels, the skill set needed for project engineering, the construction process and assist with light duty project engineering work. This is a great opportunity to visit new vessels under construction.
• Working directly alongside Project Engineers supporting program requirements with tracking and reporting for engineering scope, schedule, and budget.
• This role will require outside of office visits to the vessels.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required and worn occasionally in this role.

Qualifications

• Education: Currently a Junior or Senior enrolled in an undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
• Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar engineering software is a plus.
• Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
