Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards seeks a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern for a full-time, on-site summer internship at our Metairie, LA facility. The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Ocean Engineering and eager to apply academic knowledge in a professional setting.

You will assist engineering teams, prepare technical documentation, and develop system diagrams to ensure vessel regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Currently a junior or senior enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Ocean Engineering.
• Basic proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Engineering department by conducting research and preparing technical documentation.
• Perform general office tasks with high attention to detail, including organizing reports and maintaining engineering records.
• Develop and review system diagrams to ensure compliance with vessel specifications and regulatory standards.
• Conduct basic engineering calculations for system performance and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, and other personnel to support various projects.
