Job summary

Village of Mount Prospect is seeking a Project Engineer in the Engineering Division within the Public Works Department. The role focuses on planning, designing, and implementing stormwater systems while ensuring regulatory compliance and sustainable flood control.

Requirements include a BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, and either a PE license in Illinois or the ability to obtain within one year, plus CFM certification or the ability to obtain within one

Qualifications

• Requires BS in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in Illinois or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
• Certified Floodplain Manager certification, or ability to acquire within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement innovative solutions to address complex environmental challenges with a strong technical background in hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater modeling.
• Provide project management and communication to collaborate with Village staff, elected officials, residents, developers, and regulatory agencies.
• Plan, design, and implement stormwater management systems, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop flood control and water quality solutions.
• Oversee participation in the National Flood Insurance Program and ensure recertification under the Community Rating System; ensure NPDES compliance.
• Interact regularly with citizens, business owners, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders on engineering-related issues.
