Job summary

Shaw is seeking a Self Perform Engineer for the Concrete Department Front Range to oversee the self-perform concrete work across projects. The role focuses on material management, scheduling, and coordination to ensure on-time completion within budget and quality standards.

The candidate will supervise crews, assist with RFIs/ASIs, and support plan reviews and VE efforts, while upholding Shaw's safety and project control programs.

Qualifications

• Four year college degree in construction management or related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience with a General Contractor, self-perform, or trade contractor background (concrete preferred).
• Strong understanding of construction practices and techniques for concrete work and reading construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Superintendent and Subcontractor for delivery, storage, and management of concrete materials.
• Track materials for delivery and travel to job sites to check quality and usage.
• Assist Superintendent to schedule subcontractor work and manage RFIs/ASIs.
• Assemble shop drawings and submittals for structural coordination meetings and EOR review.
• Support Self Perform Manager in QA/QC and plan reviews, VE, and change pricing.

Self Perform Engineer Concrete Department SPS Division Front Range Reports To Self Perform Manager Classification Exempt

Job Summary

Manages and coordinates a segment of the self perform work of a project including its material management job site planning and labor scheduling in order to complete the work on time within budget and to the quality specified Responsible to protect and promote the interest of Shaw in all matters

Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Superintendent and Subcontractor the delivery storage and management of all concrete materials
• Track and project required material for delivery; travel from job to job checking quality of work and use of materials
• Assist Superintendent to schedule the work of subcontractors
• Assemble shop drawings and deliver submittals for structural coordination meetings and EOR review
• Assist Superintendent with the projects Shaw 1 2 3 Quality Control program as it pertains to concrete work specifically prephase meetings first day inspections scheduled inspections
• Maintain a copy of specifications submittals and As Built drawings
• Measure actual production rates of crews weekly and compare to planned rates
• Monitor and enforce the comprehensive project safety & security program as defined in the company safety program and in accordance with all applicable safety codes and regulations
• Supervise monitor Foreman general labor and back out crews
• Assist Self Perform Manager to administer RFIs ASIs etc
• Assist Self Perform Manager with assembling change pricing
• Assist Self Perform Manager to coordinate with Project Superintendent on Shaw self performed work including labor & equipment plan budget and code trackingmanagement
• Assist Self Perform Manager with getting more labor equipment etc as required
• Assist Self Perform Manager with detailed material takeoffs
• Assist Self Perform Manager with plan review and VE
• Maintain and update a detailed list of tools equipment and materials to be used or moved from jobsite to jobsite
• Perform other duties and take on other responsibilities as required

Other Duties

• Participate in Company Training
• Assist with pre construction including estimating and quantification
• Participate in presentations and assist in development of proposals

Supervisor Responsibilities

• Supervises foremen or hourly personnel as assigned

Education & Experience

• Four year college degree preferably in Construction Management
• Minimum 2 years experience with a General Contractor self perform or trade contractor background concrete preferred

Skills Required

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of general construction practices and techniques for concrete work construction document reading construction means methods and materials and understanding of current building codes
• Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures
• Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs
• Strong management leadership and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs passenger use of construction personnel hoists ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus Performing this job requires use of hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls sit talk and hear stand climb balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl Employee must occasionally lift andor move up to 75 pounds While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works on site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud

Compensation

• Pay Type: Salary
• Pay Range: 75000 – 85000 per year based on qualifications and experience
• Other Compensation: Bonus commensurate with individual performance company performance and experience
