Job description

What We're Looking For:

Barge Design Solutions is currently seeking to fill the position of Roadway Design Engineer (PE) in our Nashville, TN office.

Responsibilities:
  • Design a variety of roadway project types including urban streets, rural highways, bridge replacements, sidewalks and trails, complex interchanges, roundabouts, and intersection improvements.
  • Collaborate with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to resolve complex problems.
  • Supervise the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, plans, specifications, and permits for projects.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Prepare cost estimates for assigned projects.
  • Conduct project site visits as needed.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills; work independently on multiple tasks.
  • Build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships.
  • Have working knowledge of Tennessee Department of Transportation systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Understand standard operations, policies, and procedures of a firm, preferably within the A/E industry.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 6 years of roadway design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Tennessee or the ability to obtain PE in Tennessee within 6 months of start date.
  • Experience using MicroStation V8i and Geopak.
  • Working knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and techniques, including AASHTO guidelines.
  • Skill using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Tennessee Department of Transportation project experience is desired.
