Job summary

LJA Transportation seeks a Project Engineer to provide technical and engineering support, including proposals and cost estimates, and to oversee traffic signal projects for FDOT, counties and municipalities. You will mentor staff and manage scope, schedule and budget across offices and field sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (required).
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Experience with MicroStation ORD and FDOT projects preferred.
• Proficiency in CORSIM, HCS, Trans CAD, VISSIM, AGI32 advantageous.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

• Performs transportation systems analysis, planning and design.
• Determines feasibility of projects based on data analysis.
• Responsible for performance to scope, schedule and budget.
• Oversee day-to-day operations and performance of project staff.
• Manage and design traffic signal projects, signing, striping, illumination, ITS, and traffic control plans for FDOT and local municipalities.
• Mentor direct reports and contribute to business development.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Project Engineer at LJA Transportation, you will be responsible for Provides technical and engineering support, including technical proposals and cost estimates

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

• Performs transportation systems analysis, planning and design.
• Determines feasibility of projects based on analysis of collected data.
• Responsible for performance to scope, schedule and budget.
• Responsible for performance of project staff.
• Manage and design traffic signal projects, signing, striping, illumination, ITS, and traffic control plans for FDOT, counties and local municipalities
• Oversee day to day operations of group including business development activities and project management responsibilities.
• Mentoring direct reports, and conveying knowledge to others
• Team lunches/breakfasts and social activities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science Degree, Civil Engineering
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer

IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:

• Experience with MicroStation ORD
• Experience with Large Scale FDOT Projects
• Advanced skills in specialized software programs
• Technical Training Experience
• Experience using CORSIM, HCS, Trans CAD, VISSIM, and AGI32 is a plus
• Proven experience in handling multiple tasks and deadlines
