LJA Engineering, Inc. in Florida is seeking a Project Engineer for Transportation to provide technical and engineering support, including proposals and cost estimates.

You will lead transportation systems analysis, design, and coordination with FDOT and local agencies, mentoring staff and delivering projects on time and within budget. This role offers a challenging environment, with opportunities for professional development and involvement in large-scale FDOT projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
• Experience with FDOT projects is preferred.
• Experience with traffic signal projects and ITS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform transportation systems analysis, planning and design.
• Manage feasibility studies based on data analysis.
• Ensure performance meets scope, schedule and budget.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the group including business development.
• Mentor direct reports and share knowledge.
• Coordinate with FDOT, counties and municipalities on projects.
• Support proposals and cost estimates.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Project Engineer at LJA Transportation, you will be responsible for Provides technical and engineering support, including technical proposals and cost estimates

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

• Performs transportation systems analysis, planning and design.
• Determines feasibility of projects based on analysis of collected data.
• Responsible for performance to scope, schedule and budget.
• Responsible for performance of project staff.
• Manage and design traffic signal projects, signing, striping, illumination, ITS, and traffic control plans for FDOT, counties and local municipalities
• Oversee day to day operations of group including business development activities and project management responsibilities.
• Mentoring direct reports, and conveying knowledge to others
• Team lunches/breakfasts and social activities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science Degree, Civil Engineering
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer

IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:

• Experience with MicroStation ORD
• Experience with Large Scale FDOT Projects
• Advanced skills in specialized software programs
• Technical Training Experience
• Experience using CORSIM, HCS, Trans CAD, VISSIM, and AGI32 is a plus
• Proven experience in handling multiple tasks and deadlines
