Job summary

Intertek, a global quality and safety solutions provider, invites a Project Engineer to join the Electrical team in Cortland, NY. You will independently perform testing and evaluation to US/Canadian standards, write reports, and communicate with clients.

The role may require up to 50% travel and offers a strong benefits package. The position emphasizes hands-on testing, report writing, and client interactions, with career growth in Renewable Energy & Energy Storage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in directly related field.
• Microsoft Office software experience is a must have.
• Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with excellent organization and time-management skills.
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats.
• Excellent interpersonal and demonstrated communication skills, both verbally and written.
• Must be customer focused and quality driven.
• Must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and reliable driving record.
• Ability to travel as business needs dictate, up to 50%

Responsibilities

• Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
• Perform testing of products in accordance with standards.
• Supply information for quotes such as length of project, site needed, rental equipment, samples, and standards that will be used.
• Set up and operate standard test equipment including, but not limited to: spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, multi-meter, dielectric strength tester, ground continuity tester, digital multi-meter, surge generator, over-voltage tester, environmental condition chamber, and articulated probes.
• Provide sales support such as attending client visits.
• Conduct construction review, create evaluation reports and test plans, conduct and/or witness testing, resolve technical and/or administrative issues to power electronics standards.
• Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
• Provide on-going support to clients as needed.
• Perform additional duties as required.
