Job summary

City of Leawood's Public Works Department seeks an experienced Project Engineer to lead planning, design, and delivery of capital improvement projects including streets, stormwater, and traffic upgrades. You will coordinate with consultants and contractors, manage scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensure high-quality infrastructure that enhances safety and livability for residents and visitors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited school.
• Four+ years of civil engineering design, construction, project management, or equivalent experience.
• Valid PE certification; must obtain Kansas registration within one year if licensed in another state.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, manage, and deliver the City’s capital improvement and public infrastructure projects from concept through construction.
• Coordinate design with consultants and contractors to meet plans, specs, schedules, and codes.
• Oversee construction and resolve issues to ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery.
• Support right‑of‑way management and interdepartmental coordination for traffic, drainage, and easements.
