Job summary

The City of Leawood seeks an Experienced Construction Inspector to join the Public Works Department in Leawood, KS. The role focuses on inspecting streets, curbs, sidewalks, storm sewers, and other infrastructure to ensure compliance with plans, City standards, and regulations.

You'll document progress, coordinate testing, and support utilities and right-of-way activities. Candidates should bring six years of field experience, an associate degree or equivalent, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in construction and inspection/field work or equivalent.
• Associate degree plus four years of related experience acceptable as equivalent.
• Certifications listed to achieve include BMPs, erosion control, inspection courses, ACI testing, IMSA traffic control, NHI pipe installation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and document daily construction activities for public infrastructure projects.
• Verify ADA compliance in sidewalks, ramps, and driveways per plans and City standards.
• Ensure permits, rights-of-way, and utility locations are correct and restored as required.
• Prepare daily inspection reports, coordinate materials testing, and calculate pay estimates.
• Conduct final inspections of Public Improvement projects and oversee erosion and traffic control devices.
• Assist with obtaining right-of-way and easements from property owners.
• Support snow removal and emergency operations when needed.
