Job description

Procon Consulting, a fast-growing professional services firm in McLean, VA with expertise in construction management (CM), construction-related technology, space planning, and facilities management, seeks a Construction Project Engineer to support a team of facilities and construction professionals for a high-profile Government client in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate would have at least 10 years of experience in construction management, deep knowledge of building systems, and experience working in a Government setting.

The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications and skills.


Qualifications & Skills
  • A minimum of 7 years of construction management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
  • American Society of Interior Designers, American Institute of Architects, or other relevant A/E/C certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with field and office personnel.
  • Experience managing complex new construction or renovation projects in a commercial environment.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team as necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Products (excel, word, teams, etc.).
  • Knowledge of building systems to include MEP, interior finishes, and furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, interpret contract terms and conditions.
  • Experience with estimating, scheduling, and tracking project performance.
  • Experience working in a federal government setting.
  • Experience with leased office space preferred.
Responsibilities & Duties
  • As part of a diverse group of facilities, design, and construction professionals supporting a Government client,
  • the Construction Project Engineer will manage all work related to interior improvements.
  • Manage architectural and engineering firms, suppliers, and construction contractors as necessary to execute project goals.
  • Develop and manage project schedules in MS Project or similar software.
  • Support the greater team in a broad range of building management services including space management,
  • facilities and equipment maintenance, energy conservation, and system furniture planning and installation.
  • Ensure contractor performance is conducted in compliance with all applicable OSHA standards and quality control guidelines.
  • Monitor and oversee the project design or construction effort, to include but not limited to risk management, security and safety compliance, etc.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of construction submittals and construction contract documents.
  • Provide project administration and contract administration duties, including records management.

$110,000 - $120,000 a year
Salary based on experience.
