Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a civil engineer with 4–8 years of experience to perform design and analysis for power utility and land development projects. You will prepare site plans, grading, drainage, and utility designs, coordinate with clients and permitting agencies, and support budgeting and scheduling.

The role emphasizes site layout, stormwater management, and cross-functional collaboration, with opportunities to mentor junior staff and contribute to proposals and reports.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil Engineering required.
  • 4–8 years of civil engineering experience in power utility, land development, site design, or related infrastructure.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or in progress.
  • Experience preparing land development, utility site, access, and permit applications.
  • Experience supporting electric utility clients (e.g., PPL) a plus.
  • Proficient in site layout and design, stormwater management, grading and drainage design, utility infrastructure, erosion and sediment control.
  • Knowledge of local/state permitting processes.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform civil engineering design and technical analysis for power utility and land development projects.
  • Prepare and review site development, grading, utility, access, and construction plans.
  • Design and analyze stormwater management, drainage, erosion and sediment control, grading, earthwork, roadway, access, and utility infrastructure systems.
  • Coordinate with power utility clients and stakeholders on access, constructability, right-of-way, permitting, and utility infrastructure needs.
  • Coordinate permitting efforts and prepare applications for municipal, county, and state review agencies.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and project delivery.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams.
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations as needed.
  • Assist with proposals, technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff while continuing professional development.

Job description

Role Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • 4-8 years of experience in civil engineering focused on power utility, land development, site design, or related infrastructure projects
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or in progress
  • Experience preparing land development, utility site, access, and permit applications
