Job summary

Miller Gray seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to lead transportation projects across Central Texas. You will design roadway and multimodal infrastructure for municipal and county clients, coordinate with stakeholders, mentor junior staff, and own project design from schematic through PS&E.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas.
• 4–8 years of transportation or roadway design experience.
• Experience preparing roadway plans for municipal or county infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with additional tools (MicroStation/OpenRoads) is a plus.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of municipal and transportation infrastructure projects from schematic design through PS&E.
• Manage multiple transportation projects concurrently, meeting quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
• Prepare and review construction documents, calculations, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, utility providers, and regulatory agencies.
• Develop roadway geometry, drainage, utility coordination, traffic control, and multimodal improvements.
• Build and maintain relationships with municipalities, counties, TxDOT, and public-sector clients.
• Support business development by preparing proposals, scopes, schedules, and fee estimates.
• Mentor Project Engineers, EITs and junior staff while supporting QA/QC.

Miller Gray is a locally owned, growing civil engineering firm based in Austin, and we're looking for a licensed Professional Engineer to help lead our transportation projects across Central Texas. This is an exciting opportunity to design roadway and transportation improvements for municipal and county clients, including roadway reconstruction, intersection improvements, ADA accessibility upgrades, utility coordination, drainage, and multimodal infrastructure. You'll work alongside experienced project managers, take ownership of project design, mentor junior staff, and help deliver infrastructure that makes a lasting impact on the communities we serve.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and delivery of municipal and transportation infrastructure projects from schematic design through final plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E)
• Manage multiple transportation projects concurrently, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met
• Prepare and review construction documents, engineering calculations, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates
• Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, utility providers, and regulatory agencies throughout project development
• Develop roadway geometry, grading, drainage, utility coordination, traffic control, and multimodal transportation improvements, including bicycle and pedestrian facilities
• Build and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, counties, TxDOT, and other public‑sector clients
• Support business development by preparing proposals, scopes, schedules, fee estimates, and participating in client presentations and interviews
• Mentor Project Engineers, EITs and junior staff while supporting quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) throughout project delivery
• Provide engineering support during bidding and construction, including responding to contractor questions and reviewing submittals

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas
• 4–8 years of transportation or roadway design experience
• Experience preparing roadway plans for municipal or county infrastructure projects
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with any of the following is a plus: MicroStation / OpenRoads Designer; TxDOT design standards; Utility coordination; Drainage design and hydraulic calculations
• Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively while managing multiple projects and deadlines
