Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas required.
  • 5+ years of stormwater, drainage, or water resources experience preferred.
  • Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, floodplain analysis, and municipal drainage design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, analysis, and design of stormwater, drainage, and flood mitigation projects from concept through construction.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently to meet quality, schedule, and budget goals.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using 1D/2D modeling.
  • Prepare and review plans, reports, specs, takeoffs, and cost estimates.
  • Design storm drain systems, culverts, detention and water quality facilities, and roadway drainage infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with municipalities, counties, agencies, subconsultants, and stakeholders.
  • Support FEMA floodplain studies and CLOMR/LOMR efforts; assist with permitting and coordination.
  • Assist business development with proposals, scopes, and client meetings.

Job description

Miller Gray is a locally owned, growing civil engineering firm based in Austin, and we're looking for a licensed Professional Engineer to help lead our stormwater and drainage projects across Central Texas. This is an exciting opportunity to work on meaningful public infrastructure projects for municipalities and counties, including storm drain improvements, flood risk reduction, watershed studies, floodplain analysis, stream restoration, and roadway drainage. You'll work alongside experienced project managers, take ownership of project design, mentor junior staff, and help deliver resilient infrastructure that protects communities and improves water resources.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the planning, analysis, and design of stormwater, drainage, and flood mitigation projects from concept through construction
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget objectives
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using 1D and 2D modeling to evaluate existing conditions and develop drainage solutions
  • Prepare and review engineering plans, technical reports, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates
  • Design storm drain systems, culverts, detention and water quality facilities, channel improvements, and roadway drainage infrastructure
  • Coordinate with municipalities, counties, regulatory agencies, subconsultants, and project stakeholders throughout project development
  • Support FEMA floodplain studies, CLOMR/LOMR efforts, permitting, and regulatory coordination
  • Support business development by preparing proposals, scopes, schedules, fee estimates, and participating in client meetings and interviews
  • Mentor Project Engineers, EITs and junior staff while supporting quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) throughout project delivery
  • Provide engineering support during bidding and construction, including responding to contractor questions, reviewing submittals, and assisting with construction administration
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas
  • 5+ years of experience in stormwater, drainage, or water resources engineering
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain analysis, and municipal drainage design
  • Proficiency with: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: FEMA floodplain studies and CLOMR/LOMR preparation; StormCAD; 2D hydraulic modeling; TxDOT drainage design; Stormwater quality and detention facility design
